Founded in 1989, our affiliate, Habitat for Humanity in Charleston, IL, seeks to improve the community by eliminating substandard housing in Coles County. We believe that ensuring safe, decent, and affordable housing is a matter of conscience and action. Our comprehensive Affordable Housing Program includes housing creation, partner family selection and support, homeowner education, and mortgage management & servicing. Additionally, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Charleston, IL provides valuable resources to support our mission.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our work at Habitat for Humanity Charleston IL. Did you know that volunteers provide most of the labor in building Habitat homes? In fact, we have more than dozens of volunteers help with every build. Volunteers are also critical in coordinating fundraisers, serving on committees, and much more. There are volunteer opportunities for everyone at Habitat, including at the Habitat Restore Charleston IL, where you can contribute to our mission in many meaningful ways! Interested in volunteering? Together with our donors, partners, volunteers, and leaders, we have created homes for 46 low-income families in Coles County, thanks to the efforts of Habitat for Humanity Charleston IL. That's more than 150 individuals who now enjoy safe, decent, and affordable housing. Our families have contributed over $880,000 in property taxes, supporting our schools, city services, and local economy.
